RachelRachel Keller is a fictional character from The Ring film series. The character, created by writer-producer Ehren Kruger and portrayed by Naomi Watts, serves as the protagonist in The Ring and The Ring Two that share similarities with Reiko Asakawa, the protagonist of the original Japanese films.Introduced in 2002's film, Rachel is an investigative journalist who has to find a way to escape the death penalty after viewing a video that was cursed that she discovered during her investigation into the death of her niece. Rachel is required to investigate the disappearance of Samara Morgan the son of her in The Ring Two. Ruth Rachel's sister is adamant Rachel to investigate the enigmatic reasons behind Katie's sudden demise. Rachel discovers through her that Katie was healthy and discovered Katie's corpse disfigured in the closet. Katie's friends tell Rachel the tale of the cursed videotape myth and Katie's friend Becca being confined for witnessing Katie pass away. Rachel uncovers that Anna had an adoptive daughter named Samara. Samara was adept at creating horrifying images that were able to be projected into the minds of animals, humans and even objects. Rachel confronts Anna's widower Richard. Richard demands Rachel leave as shortly as she starts asking questions about Samara.
