Garena has launched Garena introduced the Garena Professional League (GPL) in the month of May 2012, a 6 month professional gaming league that includes more than 100 live matches. GPL's first season is an internet-based League of Legends tournament with six professional teams. The teams are made up of the top players in their respective nations. GPL games as well as commentaries are streamed online. Watchers can access them through the GPL website. In January 2013, Garena confirmed they would be launching Garena Premier League's season two began on January 4th, 2013. Garena Premier League 2013 includes two new teams from Taiwan and Vietnam, bringing the total number of teams to eight. These teams include: AHQ (Asia), Saigon Fantastic Five (Saigon Jokers), Bangkok Titans (Bangkok) Kuala Lumpur Hunters(Kuala Lumpur) as well as Manila Eagles(Manila), Taipei Assassinsand Singapore Sentinels. The stadium opened in November of 2014. Garena E-Sports Stadium, which is an arena specifically designed for e-sports began operations within Neihu District, Taipei. The stadium was constructed partially to accommodate the beginning of the League of Legends Masters Series which is the highest-level Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau LoL league, which is a an offshoot of the GPL. Garena has started her participation in the Iron Solari League - a League of Legends competition for women from the Philippines - in January of 2015. The event is bi-monthly that takes place in the second half of every month. The goal of this event is to promote participation by communities that are underrepresented and is open for any women who identify as being from such. Apart from competitive events, Garena also organizes events to cater to users for offline networking and meeting. It is the case with the annual Garena Carnival that is held in Singapore and Malaysia.
