Salma Hayek had her first big Hollywood part in Robert Rodriguez's Desperado. Later her fame grew with Frida and an Academy Award nomination. Hayek's TV career includes serving as executive producer on the cult Ugly Betty series. Salma Hayek's life began on September 2nd in 1966. She was born to her Spanish father and Lebanese mother in Coatzacoalcos. Hayek was raised in a wealthy Catholic family. She attended convent school at age 12 in Louisiana and then lived in Houston with her aunt through her teens. Hayek dropped out of the Mexico City University within a brief time in order to pursue acting. Her first job was as an actress in Mexico's telenovela.
