Audra Mc Donald

Audra is a unique artist in terms of the range and diversity of her talents as a performer and songwriter. She has been a six-time record recipient of the Tony Awards, two Grammy Awards in addition to an Emmy Award she received in 2015 from Barack Obama. She has a home in television, film as well as Broadway. The luminous tone of her voice makes her a natural on the stage. Her career has been successful performing and recording performing regularly in many of the top places around the world. McDonald was raised at Fresno California by her musical parents. She studied classical music at the Juilliard School, New York. One year after graduation, McDonald received the Tony Award Best Performance for an Actress in Musical Lead at Carousel in the Lincoln Center Theater. The 6th Tony award in 2014, the role of Billie Holiday of the role Lady Day in Emerson's Bar & Grill was Broadway's most decorated performance. In 2017 she performed in her West End London West End debut and was nominated to receive the Olivier Award. Also, she set the record for most awards won by a single actor. The credits for McDonald's theatre work includes The Secret Garden (1993) Marie Christine (99) Henry IV (2007) 110 in the Shade (2008) Twelfth (2009) The Twelfth, the Public Theater Shakespeare in the Park premiere, which was the first time she performed in Shuffle Along or The Making of the Musical sensation of 1921 & All That Followed (2017) Frankie and Johnny in the Clair de Lune (2018) as well as Ohio State Murders 2023. McDonald first appeared on television as a character actor in her role on the Peabody Award winner CBS series Having Our Say - The Delany Sisters' First 100 years. In the following years, she starred alongside Kathy Bates, Victor Garber as well as others in the critically popular Disney/ABC remake of Annie in 1999, McDonald was a recurring character on the NBC show Law & Order Special Victims Unit. McDonald's Emmy-nominated performance of Emma Thompson on Mike Nichols' HBO film adaptation of Pulitzer Prize winner Wit was directed by Mike Nichols. She starred alongside Taylor Schilling and Steven Pasquale in The Bite a six-episode pandemic-themed drama produced through Spectrum Originals and CBS Studios in 2021. McDonald was first seen in The Good Wife, a CBS show The Good Wife as a legal actress The Good Wife as U.S. attorneys Liz Lawrence and Liz Reddick from 2009 to 2018, reprised these characters (now called Liz Reddick) in The Good Fight in the role of the Paramount+ season regular. McDonald has been nominated for Three Critics Choice Award awards. Presently, she is appearing as a guest on Julian Fellowes' historical drama The Gilded Age, which premieres on HBO.
